The Story of The Pacific Crest Trail Atlas

It was a perfect spring day. The sky was crystal clear, it was 78.2 degrees.
...and I had just hurled my guide book over a cliff!

I’m not usually prone to spontaneous fits of anger... but, after two weeks on the Pacific Crest Trail, I was becoming fed up with the blowhard blatherings of my trail guide...

(I'd been searching for a reliable water source (preferrably with a flat spot nearby) for some time. The sun was starting to set... and my stomach and feet were telling me that it was time to camp for the night...)

But the essential information I needed was BURIED in my guide book...  deep within endless paragraphs of adjective-laden prose describing: flora, fauna, geology, and history...

And I was out of patience...

Now the whole book was BURIED (like it's contents)... at the bottom of a ravine.

Leaving the final resting place of my now "ex-guide book"with a parting "one-finger-salute"... I hiked on. That evening (after feeding my insatiable appetite with Lipton's noodles, hot chocolate and a double-nip of whiskey) -- I had a crazy idea:

I could create a better guide book!

That night I lay in my sleeping bag staring up at the stars, and began to envision what the "perfect"  guide book might look like...

It would have to take into account the major changes to gear, philosophy and lifestyle that have happened in the backpacking world since the old guidebooks were originally published... more than 30 years ago.

It would be designed for a new generation of ultralight backpackers!

Volume 1: Southern Calfornia

(Mexico Border to Tehachapi Pass)

Volume 2: Central Calfornia

(Tehachapi Pass to Echo Summit)

Volume 3: Northern Calfornia

(Echo Summit to Siskiyou Pass)

Volume 4: Oregon

(Seiad Valley to Cascade Locks)

Volume 5: Washington

(Cascade Locks to Canada Border)

The Pacific Crest Trail Atlas was designed specifically for the needs of modern light-weight backpackers. Comparing other guide books to the Pacific Crest Trail Atlas is like parking an old, rusty Studebaker next to a brand new Ferrari! The PCT Atlas is:

These are just a few of the hundreds of notes I've received from raving PCT Atlas fans. But they all say basically the same thing: "The PCT Atlas Kicks Butt!"

If you were to try to assemble a similar set of navigation and planning tools for the Pacific Crest Trail from other sources, it would be impossible. You could take every book, map and online resource ever published, and cobble it together, and it wouldn't provide half the useful information you will find inside these little books.

The Pacific Crest Trail Atlas takes all the information you need to successfully hike the PCT and packs it into a set of small, lightweight booklets that you can whip out of your pocket in an instant, find what you are looking for quickly, and be on your way with renewed confidence and peace of mind.

You could easily spend thousands of dollars, and years of your life (like I have), trying to compile a complete set of Pacific Crest Trail maps and data like this. But, you won't have to do that anymore, because I've done all the hard work for you!

The Pacific Crest Trail Atlas contains the only full-color topographic maps for the Pacific Crest Trail, elevation profiles, town maps and all the info you need to have a safe, successful hike, jam-packed into a series of pocket-size, easy-to-use booklets so unobtrusive that you'll forget you're even carrying one (until it saves your butt)!

And you can get your copy today for the one-time investment of:

Unlike other trails (like the Appalachain Trail) that are well-maintained and well-marked, a set of good maps is not a luxury on the Pacific Crest Trail. It's a necessity. Deep snow, washed out sections of trail and confusing, unmarked intersections are just a few of the hazards which will conspire to lead you off course. But with a good set of maps and trail data you'll always know which way to go.

Hundreds of thru hikers, section hikers and day hikers have made the switch to the Pacific Crest Trail Atlas and tossed their old, annoying guidebooks in the garbage. When the PCT Atlas was first announced earlier this year, the first print-run of 1,500 books sold out in just ninety days! That's how anxious PCT hikers have been for a solution to the "map problem" that has plagued the PCT for so long.

I have more in stock now, but they are going fast. Because I have limited storage space I do not keep a lot of inventory on hand. So, if you know that the Pacific Crest Trail Atlas is right for you, don't wait. Order your copy today.
